Citrus news: strong start for mandarins & grapefruit – oranges now from South Africa

We are in the final weeks of the Egyptian orange season and have now started the first volumes from South Africa. The transition to a new origin is thus gradually getting underway.

The first South African oranges have an excellent internal quality - with high brix values and a nice juice percentage - although the skin is (temporarily) slightly less attractive than you are used to from us due to skin damage. This is expected to improve with the arrival of other varieties in the coming weeks. In terms of sizes, we also continue to see mainly the larger sizes coming in, and less fruit in sizes suitable for juicers.

Mandarins from South Africa

The first South African mandarins have arrived and score excellent on both taste and appearance. A remarkably good start to the season!

Grapefruits: top quality and in demand

Grapefruit from South Africa also remains of consistent top quality, with plenty of availability. A strong product for the summer season. Demand is high, so be quick.

Lemons: tight market, relief on the way

Demand for lemons is currently high - partly thanks to good weather and the ending season in Spain. This makes for a somewhat tight market, but we expect supply to improve soon thanks to a growing number of origins.
